•  Fall semester lasts for 14 weeks.

•  Maximum limit for absenteeism  is 9 hours.

•  Health reports are also counted in the limit.

•  Online courses will take place on Google Meet Platform and the codes will be shared by your instructor through OBS.

•  A class for each level and section will be created on Google Classroom and the code will be shared on OBS by your instructor.

•  Supplementary course materials, answer keys, course books, homework topics, syllabus and lecture notes will be shared on Google Classroom.

• For each level, the videos that are in line with the curriculum will be shared on separate classrooms.

•  To get 20% oral participation grade:

•  Students are expected to write an essay for each of the AFGA 101/102/201 courses. The topic, submission deadline and assessment criteria will be on the Google Classroom page of the relevant course. The essays will constitute 10% (50 points) and participation will constitute 10% (50 points) of the overall grade.  Oral participation grades will be given out of 100 points on the Excel grade sheet.

•  Students are expected to write an essay for each of the AFGA 202/301/302 courses and they have to make an oral presentation about the essay they write. The essays constitute 10% (50 points) and the oral presentations constitute 10% (50 points) of the overall grade. Oral presentation grades will be given out of 100 points on the Excel grade sheet.

  • Mid-term, make-up, final and resit exam dates are written on the syllabus.
  • Students whose final exam scores are below 50 points or who have not entered the final exam can attend the make-up exam. They will be responsible for all the subjects covered during the term.
  • Informing the instructor about one hour overlapping lesson with another lesson, students can attend another section’s one hour class during that overlapping hour.
  • Students who want to be exempted from language courses or have the background of the language they want to take, can take the Placement or Exemption Test for only one time. In order to be able to take this test, it is required that the student has not taken a course in that language before during his/her university education.  The students are expected to get 60 out of 100 to be exempted from the course. The advisor cannot determine the level according to the student's statement about his/ her level.
  • For the language courses taken, graduating students who have completed at least 4 levels of the language course (regardless of the course is credit or non-credit one ) are given a certificate of participation. In order to get the certificate, students are to apply to School of Foreign Languages secretary. Students who passes 4 levels on the placement test cannot get a certificate.
